Here's the note we received from Bruce Alexander, the Director of Administrative Services at SUNY Jefferson Community College:   "Arrived yesterday and planted this morning. All in good condition - gave them a little H20. Our local Cornell Coop person brought five master gardeners with her. All commented on the excellent quality of the plants so don’t be surprised if you get some inquiries!! Maryland Restricts Neonicotinoids Sales, Vermont Considering!

Effective this January 1st, 2018, Maryland is the first state that has passed legislation to restrict sales of neonicotinoid pesticides to only certified applicators.  This mean homeowners will no longer have access to these pesticides, however farmers and commercial applicators will continue to have access. Meanwhile, in Vermont, Representative Amy Sheldon of Middlebury, VT, introduced H.688 to likewise restrict the sale and application of neonicotinoid pesticides to Class A licensed applicators, similar to Maryland's.  http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2016RS/chapters_noln/Ch_661_sb0198E.pdf This is a step in the right direction and one of the recommendation we put forth in the Vermont Pollinator Protection Committee.   For those of you not familiar,...

L'Ecole Francaise du Maine plants a pollinator garden!

Sonya Kahlenberg wrote: " I wanted to write to thank you for supplying beautiful, healthy plants for our pollinator garden project at L'Ecole Française du Maine (French School of Maine) in South Freeport. The kids (Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st Grade) had a fantastic time! They did everything from building the frame to putting in the dirt, compost, and plants. Students also learned about the important role pollinators play in the ecosystem and about the anatomy of flowers. We look forward to flowers and pollinators later this summer and expanding the garden next year! Here are some photos from the project."
